A fundraising event can be big, small, simple or glamorous. It can be for 10 friends or 100 colleagues. Host it at home, work, school – anywhere. The choice is yours. Yes, you can. Lotteries and games of chance may be used to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
We encourage you to look up the regulations for your state.
According to the Best Practice Guidelines of the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing NSW event costs should also not exceed 40% of total income.
We are unable to provide public liability insurance cover to community fundraising events and/or coordinators. It is the responsibility of the event organiser to arrange this in conjunction with the venue.
You can only provide a tax-deductible receipt to someone who makes a donation and does not receive a material benefit. For example, you cannot provide a tax-deductible receipt for donations made to a raffle, auction or to someone who provides goods, a service or general cash for sponsorship. If someone provides a large cash sponsorship donation, you can provide them with a letter to acknowledge their contribution. If you let us know their details we can provide them with a thank you letter once we have received the money. Receipts for online donations are sent to the email provided automatically on the same day. If you receive any offline, cash donations, please ask the team for a receipt register to record the donors details - we can then issue the tax-deductible receipt once the event funds have been deposited.
A ‘return form’ was emailed or mailed to you with your ‘Authority to Fundraise’ after you registered to host your event. If you cannot find your return form, please contact us on 1300 737 086.
Your tax receipt is either emailed or posted out after the end of the financial year in July. If you haven’t received it, please contact us on 1300 737 086 or [email protected]. Please let us know if you’ve changed your address.
